A SCIENCE EXPERIMENT?

you COULD try this at home, but you'd have to get a new Electric Smoker..

Remember the science experiment where you heated up a can that had some water in it, until the can filled with steam, then sealed the can??

Once the can cooled off, the steam turned back to regular water & the sides of the can crushed in...

It worked best if you had a can that sealed very well. The idea was to show that water in vapor form takes up more space than water in liquid form. (See Steam Engines if you want more information)

Well it happened to a customer of ours...


Here's what happened. He cooked a perfect, best-ever, mouth watering, world class meal. The Electric Smoker filled with steam from the moisture in the meat. He took the food out, put the lid back on, the steam condensed.... and CRUSH !!!

What about this? Is our product defective?

Well, we do advertise that it is reasonably air-tight, but not this much. We replaced this one no charge, and credit ourselves for making a product that is TOO airtight. That's hard to do with metal.

But perhaps it's best if you let your Old Smokey Electric Cooker cool off before you put the lid back on.
