What to do with the Old Van?
be open to new possibilities
Things don't change very often at Old Smokey Products Company. So , early in 2005, when it was time for a new delivery van, we agonized for weeks.
"But we've had the old one since 1984? It's still good, isnt' it? It's carried mountains of Old Smokey grills, making people happy all across America."
And it only had 165,000 miles on it (second engine, though.)
But, the time had indeed come. We couldn't put the old van on the highway anymore.

Then we got the idea. "why not find a nice home in the country for it to live out its days? It can traipse merrily on soft roads, going slow and steady, while enjoying the sunshine and fresh air."
A suitable home was found, at the LL Ranch in Dripping Springs, TX. We rejoiced!
But there's not much use for a closed van on a ranch - things there need to be hauled and carried from place to place. It's more of a pickup truck type of environment.
Then, while barbecueing, we got another idea....
First, let's reconsider that top.

It's nice to have an overhead crane.
And it's nice to have a cutting torch and welders
Here it is, almost done.
and now, it's ready to go, on a trailer behind the new vaw

But there's more to the story. Click to find out why you shouldn't hire a lawyer to drive a van.
