We got this letter dated May 1, 2007:
Sir,
I've been using your product ever since your first production. Wouldn't use any other.
Thought you would enjoy what old (gentlemen) do when retired. Anything to keep from watching Oprah.
The bottom of my Old Smokey charcoal grill was burning out so I purchased another. Noticing that the top of my old pit was still very solid, I cut the top out with a small cut-off blade.

Being raised in New Orleans, I have always believed in slow cooking. As you can see I can now grill and smoke some five inches above normal grill height. At seven inches I can grill and smoke also.
Thanks, Norman

To Norman, we say "great idea! and thanks for sending us the pictures!!"

To everyone else we say: "Warning! Use extreme caution when attempting any use of a cut off blade, or when cutting any metal. We recommend that you not use the Old Smokey Barbecue Grill for anything other that its intended use. Do not cut any part of the Old Smokey grill while it is hot. Wear safety goggles and other appropriate safety gear. "
